Word, Music, Contemplation, and Sharing

As it is the Christian tradition, we worship each Sunday morning. Worship is the weaving together of word, music, contemplation, and sharing. Our circular sanctuary affords opportunities for expression and interaction as we celebrate God’s gifts and seek to respond to those gifts.

During Sunday morning worship, we engage with scripture, allowing it to speak to us as we interpret and listen to its wisdom. We also hear and participate in music from a variety of genres. We are aware that music moves us and communicates the sacred in ways mere words are unable to express. Our music incorporates time-proven hymns and traditional pieces that resonate from the past with more modern music, both secular and sacred. Voice, piano, organ, guitar, hand bells, soloists, flutes, percussion, recorders — all of these are utilized whenever possible to allow spiritual expression and interpretation.

The circular seating in our sanctuary creates an ideal opportunity to engage in conversations during the service, using the time together to share some of our gifts, our concerns, and our wonderings. We embrace those less traditional Sundays when our sermons are actually a time of discussion around a central theme.

On alternate first Sundays of the month, our Celebration of the Lord’s Supper is a time to share a brunch during the service and to break bread and drink the cup while engaging with the “Word” in a variety of styles.
